THE 2025 FILM COMPETITION: A CELEBRATION OF NATURE AND CINEMA
The Festival of Birds and Nature is delighted to present the 2025 edition of its prestigious film competition. This year, we received nearly 250 submissions, showcasing the enthusiasm and creativity of filmmakers from around the world. Out of these submissions, 140 professional films and 62 amateur films were viewed by our Pre-Selection Jury, made up of dedicated volunteers: Claudine Cornette, Sylvie Gautier De Lahaut, Louis Deprez, Jean-Pierre Darras, Gérard Leborgne, Hubert Royer, Pierre Clause, Vincent Caron, and Satine Siama.
International Participation
The submitted films come from 35 different countries, with an impressive diversity:
Professionals: 28 countries, including Sri Lanka, Hungary, Iran, and a strong German presence with over 30 films.
Amateurs: 17 countries, including Bahrain, Brazil, New Zealand, and South Korea.
Selection and Programming
After a rigorous selection process, 33 films were chosen, including 14 amateur films. These works will be screened from April 12 to 20, 2025, in Abbeville and presented in a French-dubbed or subtitled version.
Jury and Prizes
A jury chaired by Emmanuel RONDEAU, filmmaker, with Claude-Julie PARISOT and Cyril RUOSO, also filmmakers, as well as David GREMILLET from CNRS, Jessica SERRA, ethologist, and Agathe SOMONT and Jules COURBET, high school students. They will award 4 prizes for a total of €10,000, including €4,000 for the Grand Prize.
The public will vote for their favorite amateur film on Friday, April 18. The winner will receive €2,000.
Special Events
In addition to the screenings in Abbeville, there will be satellite screenings in Crécy-en-Ponthieu and Fort-Mahon-Plage. Debate evenings and special screenings are also planned, such as the premiere of the new film by the Jury President, “In the Name of the Jaguars.”
Gala Evening and Rebroadcasts
The competition winners will be announced during the Gala Evening on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the Municipal Theatre of Abbeville. The award-winning films will be rebroadcast on Sunday, April 20.

PROFESSIONALS
Films about birds in their natural environment, wildlife, environment or natural history. Films from 26 to 100 minutes
AMATEURS
Competition is also open to amateur wildlife filmmakers who do sound recording, shooting or editing as a hobby. Films from 3 to 13 minutes.
THE 2024 EDITION
Preview Jury watched:
- a total of 117 hours from 134 professional films
- a total of 8 hours of 58 amateur films
Rémi RAPPE, winner of the 2023 Grand Prix, with Emma BAUS and Pierre BOUTILLIER, filmmakers, Jean-Noël RIEFFEL, ornithologist and Head of Office Français de la Biodiversité Centre / Val-de-Loire, Fabien SPICHER, ecologist from Université de Picardie-Jules Verne, Salomé GREVIN and Sarah LEDOUX, from local high school have decided of the winners of the 33rd Bird and Nature Festival.
